A Dream About Getting Ready for My Marri
Interpreted Female Age 22 Morning Unmarried Nov 04, 2026
I had a dream in which I was getting ready. I don't remember what colour clothes I was wearing but I remember that I was doing my makeup. Then my mother came and said to me that I shouldn't get so dressed up and asked what my in-laws would think. I didn't see the groom at all in my dream. That was all I saw. The night before this dream I had made dua to Allah and left everything in His hands. I prayed that Allah would make Mujtaba come to my house with a marriage proposal and that we would get married. What could this dream mean? Is there any connection between the dua I made before sleeping and the dream I saw?

Assalamu Alaykum sister. Thank you for reaching out and sharing your dream with us.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) mentioned that dreams can be of three kinds: good dreams which are a glad tidings from Allah, dreams that cause distress which come from Shaytan, and dreams that come from a person's own thoughts and desires that they carry in their heart during the day. Because you prayed deeply right before sleeping and placed this matter in Allah's hands, your mind and heart were naturally focused on marriage. A large part of this dream may simply be the reflection of your own deep thoughts and prayers, which is very common.

In terms of the symbols you saw, getting dressed and applying makeup shows your natural desire for happiness, beauty, and preparing for a new chapter in your life. Since wanting marriage and halal joy is a positive thing for you, MashaALLAH!

However, there are two meaningful signs here to pay attention to:

  • Your mother's advice: In dreams, the words of a mother often carry wisdom and protection. Her telling you not to overdress and asking what your in-laws would think points towards caution, modesty, and keeping your expectations balanced. It suggests that you should not let your hopes run ahead of reality just yet.
  • Not seeing the groom: You did not see the groom at all. Because of this, the dream cannot be taken as a direct confirmation that you will marry Mujtaba specifically. It reflects your anticipation of marriage, but leaves the actual partner open to whatever Allah chooses for you.

So to answer your question: yes, there is definitely a connection to your prayer, but it reflects your longing and also reminds you to remain patient and grounded. You did the right thing by leaving it in Allah's hands, so continue to hold on to that surrender.

Whenever you are hoping for something dear to your heart, it is always recommended to give a little Sadqa regularly, even if it is a very small amount daily. The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us that charity cools the anger of the Lord and pushes away hardships and trials. Also, make it a habit to recite Darood Shareef abundantly during your day. Reciting Darood is also a form of charity, relieves anxiety, and brings immense blessings from Allah upon your affairs.

May Allah bless you with a righteous spouse who brings peace to your heart, and may He choose what is truly best for your deen and your future. Ameen!

Allah knows best.
