Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.

Thank you for reaching out and sharing your dream with us. It is completely understandable that waking up like this left you feeling unsettled.

To help you understand dreams better, our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us that dreams are of three kinds: a good dream which is glad tidings from Allah, a dream from a person's own thoughts, and a frightening dream which is from Shaytan to cause sadness and fear. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "A good dream is from Allah, and a bad dream is from Shaytan. So whoever sees something that scares or upsets them, let them spit dryly to their left three times and seek refuge in Allah from Shaytan, and it will not harm them."

In Islamic dream understanding, a snake, especially a black snake, often points to a hidden enemy, someone who holds jealousy or ill will, or it simply represents the whispers and tricks of Shaytan trying to terrify you. The fact that you woke up with your heart racing shows that this was a disturbing dream intended to bring fear and distress into your heart.

Since this has happened more than once and caused you fear, here are a few gentle steps you should take:

  • Give Sadqah regularly: Try to give charity, even a small amount every day or week. Our Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." Giving Sadqah removes evils and shields you from hidden harm.
  • Recite Durood Shareef: Make a habit of sending blessings upon our Prophet (peace be upon him) throughout the day. Durood Shareef is also a form of charity, it relieves worries, and Allah showers ten blessings upon whoever recites it once.
  • Keep up your prayers and protection: Be punctual with your five daily prayers. Before going to bed, make Wudu, recite Ayat al-Kursi, and read the last three Surahs of the Quran (Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas), blowing into your hands and wiping over your body.

Do not let this dream trouble your mind, as a dream from Shaytan cannot harm you when you seek refuge in Allah. May Allah protect you from all evil, ease your heart, and bless your days with tranquility and safety. Ameen!

And Allah knows best.
