Regarding sharing dreams with others
Interpreted Male Age 21 Unknown Unmarried Nov 07, 2026
Assalamu Alaikum, Shaykh. A few days ago, I asked you to interpret a dream I had. In its possible interpretation, you mentioned that Allah had taken responsibility for my marriage and that I would, In Sha Allah, find a genuinely pious life partner. After seeing that dream, I was so happy that I immediately shared it with my mother and younger brother. I should mention that I have already told my parents that I will only marry a truly pious girl. However, they believe that genuinely pious girls hardly exist in the current generation. When I told my mother about the dream, she said that perhaps I had been thinking about marrying a pious girl throughout the day, and that was why I had such a dream. Hearing her words made me a little anxious because we have heard that one should not share dreams with others, as someone might interpret them according to their own assumptions, and the dream might turn out accordingly. Because of this, I have been feeling uneasy. I worry that Allah might be displeased with me and that I might not receive the very thing I have been hoping and praying for. Although I have great faith in my Lord, sometimes I become very anxious about this matter. I do not really have anyone else to share these things with. I usually share my everyday experiences with my mother and younger brother, as doing so helps lighten my heart a little. What should I do now? I would sincerely appreciate your guidance and help, Shaykh. I would remain grateful to you and pray for you in the sight of my Allah.

Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh,

Thank you for reaching out to us again and sharing what has been on your heart. Please take a deep breath and put your heart at ease. There is no reason for you to be distressed or to lose hope in the mercy of Allah.

Regarding what you are worried about, let me clarify a few points so you can feel completely peaceful:

First, sharing a good dream with your mother and your younger brother was done with pure intentions and love. In the Sunnah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) advised that one should only share a good dream with someone they love or someone who can give sincere advice. Your mother and brother are your close family who love you dearly, so you did not commit a sin, nor is Allah displeased with you for speaking to them.

Second, your mother did not give you an official or hostile interpretation. She simply shared an everyday maternal thought based on her observation of today's world. A passing comment or casual opinion made in conversation does not change the decree of Allah or cancel a true blessing. What Allah has written for you will surely reach you, and no casual remark can snatch it away.

Since this has brought you some anxiety, it is always a beautiful Sunnah to turn to good deeds to calm your soul. Try to give some Sadqa regularly, even if it is a very small amount you give with a sincere heart. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught us that charity cools difficulties and repels harm. Also, make it a habit to recite Durood Shareef in abundance every day. Sending blessings upon our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is itself a form of charity, removes grief and anxiety, and invites immense blessings into your life.

Continue to keep high expectations of Allah (Husn al-Dhann). Truly pious and righteous women do exist in every era, and if you sincerely pray for one, Allah is capable of blessing you with the best life partner. Keep being kind and dutiful to your mother, and leave your future in the hands of the Best of Planners.

May Allah fill your heart with peace, protect your dreams, and grant you a righteous, pious wife who will be the coolness of your eyes in this life and the next. Ameen!

And Allah knows best.
